TRAFFIC ALERT | Road closures in downtown Macon for 'Hillbilly Elegy' filming

You may be seeing yellow production signs around downtown Macon that say 'IVAN'

MACON, Ga. —

Starting Monday, some roads in downtown Macon will be closed for the filming of the Netflix movie 'Hillbilly Elegy,' starring Amy Adams and Glenn Close.

The closures may occur between Monday, July 15, and Monday, July 22, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to a Georgia Department of Transportation press release.

Here are the streets that will be most affected:

  • Poplar Street between 1st and 3rd Streets
  • Poplar Street between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and 7th Street
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between Poplar and Cherry Streets

All lanes of traffic will be closed in three-to-five minute intervals, the release said.

'Hillbilly Elegy' will also be filming at Rutland High School, the Lower Poplar Train Bridge, Truan Sales, and Schnitzer Steel.
