After a spectacular day yesterday, unfortunately changes arrive to our forecast later today. A chilly and sunny morning will lead to more clouds and a few widely scattered showers for Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. This will not be a huge rain maker by any stretch, a much more widespread rain will arrive with a dynamic storm system over the weekend.

Clouds and a few sprinkles will be the theme for the day on Friday. We are still not expecting a widespread rain at any point on Friday, but some light rain is possible at times. Temperatures for Friday afternoon will top out in the low 60s.

Much of the day itself on Saturday will feature only scattered showers, but by the late afternoon and the evening a much more widespread rain will move in. Prior to the rain moving in our temperatures will be quite mild with highs in the mid to upper 60s Saturday afternoon.

The rain Saturday evening and Saturday night could be heavy at times. In fact, a few thunderstorms are possible as this system sweeps through the area.

The SPC has outlined a marginal risk of severe weather to our west for Saturday. For central Georgia, it appears our instability will be limited with this system despite the impressive dynamics, so we are not expecting issues with severe storms at this time, but heavier downpours with gusty winds are possible. We will of course keep you posted if anything changes.

WMAZ

As far as rainfall totals, we're expecting general totals between a quarter inch and an inch. Exact amounts will depend on where any heavier downpours set up.

By Sunday morning the rain is already moving out, and behind this system cold weather begins to move in. In fact, temperatures are likely dropping through the day on Sunday. By Monday morning we likely have widespread low to mid 20s. Afternoon temperatures for Monday will top out in the mid 40s.

There will also be a breeze on the back side of the system. This means that feels like temperatures could be in the teens by Monday morning, and in the 30s for the afternoon.
