Ben Jones is the chief meteorologist at 13WMAZ

Ben Jones is the Chief Meteorologist for 13WMAZ in Macon, Ga.

He provides weekday weather for 13WMAZ News at 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m.

Ben holds the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society, which makes him the only AMS Certified Meteorologist in Central Georgia.

Ben joined the 13WMAZ News Team in October 1997. He started out anchoring the weekend shows and weekday Mornin' and Midday shows.

Ben started his broadcasting career at the age of 17 in radio and now has over 20 years of broadcast experience.

His first job was as a midday announcer/Assistant Production Director at WQBZ-Q106. From there, he went on to be afternoon announcer/Assistant Program Director at WMGB-B93.7.

After a stop at 98 Rock in Charleston, S.C. as afternoon announcer and Production Director, he came back home to Macon.

He completed coursework through Mississippi State University to become a Meteorologist.

In August 2009, Ben and 13WMAZ's Lorra Lynch were married.

Ben and Lorra have three children, Olsen, Benjamin, and the newest addition, Ella Hope. Most folks call her Hope.

Ben, originally from Macon, says his hobbies include spending time with Lorra and the kids, building and painting, listening to music, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves.
