Flash Flood Emergency issued for possible dam failure in Spalding county

Life threatening flash flooding from the imminent failure of Head's Creek Reservoir dam.

GRIFFIN, Ga. — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Emergency for part of Spalding County. They say a dam failure is imminent at Head's Creek Reservoir, which feeds Heads Creek and the Flint River. 

Immediate evacuations have been ordered areas downstream from the Head`s Creek Reservoir along Heads Creek, including West McIntosh Road, Vaughan Road, West Ellis Road, Moon Road, and may impact Highway 16 after the creek drains into the Flint River.
