Mostly cloudy sky conditions will continue through the end of the week. Rain chances will slowly ramp up and become more scattered with even a few storms possible by the end of the week and into the weekend. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 70s to low 80s with warmer temperatures expected by the weekend.
Drought Monitor
The new United States Drought Monitor was released Thursday, August 11th and paints a similar picture to last week. Drier-than-normal conditions still persist for 44% of North Carolina and 24% of South Carolina.
Tropical Update
A tropical wave located over the southwestern Caribbean Sea is forecast to move across Central America over the next few days and emerge over the Bay of Campeche on Friday. By then, an area of low pressure could form with a 20% chance of becoming a tropical system through the weekend.
