Finally, a stretch of cooler weather is within reach for central Georgia. By Thursday and Friday highs will only reach the mid 80s with morning lows in the low 60s!
However, this air mass has not moved in quite yet, so brutal September heat is set to continue for Monday and Tuesday.
Highs on Monday will reach the mid to upper 90s with a mostly sunny sky. Fortunately, Monday will not reach an impressive afternoon high record in Macon of 102 from 1980.
Tuesday will trend even hotter with hot spots around 100. A stray shower or storm cannot be ruled out for Tuesday afternoon or evening as a weak cold front moves in to north Georgia, but most should stay dry.
A 'wedge front' will moves from east to west across the area on Wednesday as our breeze shifts out of the northeast. Prior to the wedge getting established, highs on Wednesday likely reach at least the low 90s.
The frontal boundary could also fire up a few isolated showers and storms for Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Behind the wedge front, both Thursday and Friday will feature highs only in the 80s and lows as low as the upper 50s.
The heat builds back in over the weekend with highs near 90, but morning lows remain in the low 60s. The upcoming weekend should stay pretty much all dry.
