Matt Daniel joined 13WMAZ in August 2014. Matt grew up in Social Circle, Georgia and is familiar with the weather and climate of North and Central Georgia. Matt graduated from The University of Georgia where he obtained a degree in Geography and a certificate in Atmospheric Sciences and Music Business. Matt interned at ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, Alabama, the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, and at CNN World Headquarters.

Matt joined 13WMAZ after working at CNN/HLN as a weather producer for the weekend newscasts, producing graphics and gathering weather stories to air on national television. He currently writes for, which talks about the latest science stories around the world. Matt has always had the passion for weather since the age of three, and has always enjoyed weather forecasting and studying tropical cyclones. Matt has won several awards in forecasting excellence, and made it into the final four of a weather forecasting competition that pairs up professors, graduate students, and undergraduates across the country. He is an active member of the American Meteorological Society, and enjoys reaching out to the community through events and school activities to simply increase weather awareness.

When he isn't forecasting the weather, Matt enjoys to play and listen to music, spend time with his family, and cheer on the Georgia Dawgs!
