Advanced Disposal offers relief for yard waste pickup in Macon

In 10 days, Advanced Disposal picked up 54 tons of yard waste in Bibb County.

Tree limbs and grass clippings have been piling up throughout Macon-Bibb County for months, but Advanced Disposal is hoping to give people some relief.

During the month of October, they are dispatching grappling trucks to help get the county back to a good place before the solid waste department takes on the job exclusively.

Still, some people like Wanda McNair have piles and questions.

"Like my flowers and I really don't like that, big piles right there outside of my house," said McNair.

Wanda McNair likes a clean yard, but it's hard to keep the yard clean when her yard debris doesn't get picked up.

"I really don't know who to put the blame on. I don't know if I should blame the city or the workers," said McNair.

She calls the trash pickup a headache.

Advanced Disposal is lending their crew and their trucks to get debris piles picked up across the county. They've collected 54 tons in 10 days.

Mark Samples picks up the piles, but he can't pick up some that are too close to power lines.

He puts a good dent into the problem -- each day he says he picks up between 2 or 3 tons of yard debris.

McNair hopes that for the bill she paid, the services will start improving.

"That $300 really did put a hardship on me, but I'm willing to pay that if I get competent services," said McNair.
