Food drive in Fort Valley helps out for the holidays

Blue Bird, The Middle Georgia Community Food Bank and Fort Valley teamed up to give out over 300 bags of food Friday.

Dozens of volunteers stood out in the drizzly rain Friday morning to help those in need this holiday season.

Blue Bird, the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, and the City of Fort Valley teamed up to stuff boxes and bags full of rice, beans, and bread.

People also got sausage, cereal, and lunch meat.

Sylvester Roundtree Junior is with the food bank.

“We are trying to make things just a little bit easier for those who are having a tough time and working but can’t make ends meet,” he said.

Patricia Howard pulled in at 9:30 to get in line.

"Yeah, it's hard, but I thank God for what they're doing because they help me out a lot because I had a stroke, so it's good. They can bring me paperwork to fill out and bring the groceries to my car,” Howard said.

The group gave out over 300 bags in Fort Valley.
