Man killed in accident in Fort Valley

60-year-old Jamie Lee Willis was driving a small tractor down Chestnut Hill Road when he was hit from behind by a dump truck.

UPDATE, 11:20 p.m.:

The farm tractor had no lights or a reflective triangle as required, and it was already dark and not in a lighted area. The dump truck driver swerved left in an attempt to avoid striking the tractor. The front right of the dump truck hit the left rear of the tractor and the driver of the tractor was thrown off. The dump truck then traveled off the south side of the roadway and apparently struck the driver of the tractor as it veered off the road. The dump truck came to rest in front of a nearby residence. The tractor and its driver stopped in the south ditch. The tractor driver died of his injuries and was pronounced dead by the coroner.
