Tree falls into home in Warner Robins

Friday night's storms damaged a home in Warner Robins.

Storms are moving into the area, but some Central Georgians spent their Saturday cleaning up from the previous night’s severe weather.

“There was lightning and thunder, and then all of the sudden I heard a big boom,” said Elsie Hatton.

That big boom was from a dead tree falling and hitting Elsie’s home, leaving a hole in her roof.

On the inside of the house, there are now wood chips all over her bathroom floor.

“It was flooding through the hole, I said please Lord let it stop raining,” said Hatton.

But it’s not just the rain that poses a problem. She now has parts of the tree along the floor and bugs are getting into her home.

She says the conditions are not livable.

“I begged the trailer park owners to tear the thing down. This is the only place I have to live,” said Hatton.

Now, she is looking for a place for her and her dog.

“The only thing I know to do is try and call my local Red Cross. Maybe they have funds that they could use to put me up in a motel room or something,” said Hatton. “Otherwise, I’m going to stay here because I have nowhere else to go.”

With Alberto on the horizon, Hatton doesn’t have much time to figure it out.

She says she was planning on moving to a new home in June.
