UPDATE: Armed suspect in Dodge County standoff identified

UPDATE:

The man involved in the standoff has been identified as Robert Christopher Griffiths.

It started around 8:15 at a home on Highway 126 near Quinton Rowland Road. That's near the Bleckley County line.

Dodge Sheriff Lynn Sheffield says that US Marshals tried to serve a warrant on Griffiths, but he barricaded himself inside.

The sheriff says Griffith's girlfriend ran out of the house and told officers he was armed.

Officers from Dodge and Laurens Counties and the US marshals surrounded the house for more than three hours until Griffiths agreed to surrender.

No one was injured during the standoff.

Sheffield says Griffiths was wanted on a Laurens County warrant for probation violation.
