13WMAZ 'Give Thanks' campaign: What it is, how to participate

Our 'Give Thanks' campaign starts this Wednesday.

MACON, Ga. — As we approach the holiday season, we feel gratitude for what we have and recognize there are so many without, so we’re asking YOU to join us in our ‘Give Thanks’ campaign by helping the less fortunate in our community every Wednesday throughout November.

How it works: Every week, one of our anchors will highlight one organization working to help those in need. From providing mentors and counseling services to young people to finding housing for homeless veterans to feeding the hungry in Central Georgia, these organizations are meeting needs in your community.

Simply text the word THANKS to 478-752-1309 and get a direct link to donate to them. Donations to each organization will run for a week before we move on to the next one.

Marvin James will highlight the Mentor’s Project of Bibb County on Nov. 2 to officially start our 'Give Thanks' campaign.

The following week Chief Meteorologist Ben Jones will talk to you Nov. 9 about Volunteers of America, a veteran’s organization based in Houston County

Frank Malloy will then kick off our Stuff the Truck event for the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank Nov. 16.

We will wrap up our month of giving thanks with Lori Johnson as she highlights the Pace Center for Girls Nov. 23

Make sure to text the word THANKS each week to get a direct link to donate to them.
