A letter written Thursday by the Chancellor of the University System of Georgia asked the GBI to remove Special Agent in Charge J.T. Ricketson from its investigation of alleged sexual misconduct at Fort Valley State University.
Steve Wrigley’s letter to GBI Director Vernon Keenan states that Ricketson’s comments to the Atlanta Journal Constitution on the alleged sex scandal investigation involving the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority are ‘distressing at best and false in detail.’
Wrigley says Ricketson acted unprofessionally in claiming the USG learned about the situation when a board member visited the campus.
Wrigley claimed Ricketson has spoken more about the case to media than FVSU students and officials, which damages the integrity of the investigation.
WMAZ reached out to Ricketson who confirmed he is no longer handling the case, but did not respond to questions about why.

“I have worked with the GBI for over 30 years and have never seen such unprofessional behavior,” wrote Wrigley.
The letter concludes with Wrigley asking Keenan to remove Ricketson from the investigation since he has demonstrated he could not handle it professionally.
On Wednesday, WMAZ learned that the investigation involved "allegations of sexual misconduct" against an employee connected to a school sorority.
The sorority's statement says, "We were appalled to learn of allegations of sexual misconduct against a Fort Valley State University employee who also is a graduate member of the sorority."
"Upon learning of these allegations, we immediately contacted the university and launched an internal investigation, which is ongoing," they wrote.
