Volunteers found a fresh grave site at a family cemetery. Bibb investigators discovered the remains of a dog.

Crime scene investigators responded, checked the grave, and found the remains of a dog that was buried recently.

MACON, Ga. — Bibb investigators determined a dog's remains were recently buried at a family grave site on Saturday.

According to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, the agency was dispatched to a private family cemetery near the intersection of Hawkinsville Road and Kumho Parkway around 10:30 a.m.

When deputies got there, they saw what looked like a fresh grave in the cemetery. 

That's when crime scene investigators responded, checked the grave, and found the remains of a dog that was buried recently. 

A group of volunteers that were there to clean up the cemetery initially found the the grave, the release says.

The dog's remains will be removed and properly disposed.
