After man shoots father in Houston County, community member says it 'breaks our heart'

The Sheriff's Office still doesn't know what led up to the shooting.

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Houston County man is in jail today for allegedly shooting and killing his father. It happened on Wimberly Road in Haynesville.

The sheriff's office says 21-year-old Alexzander Capella-Ortega shot his father after the two had a domestic dispute.

Adalberto Ortiz-Nieves was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Andrew Robinson serves at First Baptist Church of Haynesville, not far from Wednesdays shooting.

He wears many hats for the ministry.

"I lead worship here every Sunday, every Wednesday. I'll go down Wednesday nights to lead the College and Career young adults," he said.

Plus he's on the media team, but he really loved the youth.

"That's where you really get formed into your world view, then you carry on into your 30's and 40's and your whole life," Robinson said.

He seeks to help them build a solid foundation in Christ.

"I want to make sure that we are being kept as believers and as people, by God and his word instead of the trends in culture because those are ever shifting," Robinson said.

He says that could be any influence...including trends in violence. The Houston County Sheriff's Office says a home nearby has had their own struggles with this. They say in the last four years deputies were called to that home three previous times for another family related dispute and an aggravated assault.

"They weren't necessarily members here, but many people here knew them, know them. It breaks our heart to hear," he said.

Others in the community shared this same message. Robinson encourages anyone in need to seek help from others, and says their church doors will welcome you.

"Just know that we are a church put on this hill to be a light into the community, to be a light in this world. We would love to take anyone in who is in our community or even in Houston county more broadly,  who is seeking help, seeking shelter, or in any sort of need. We would love to have you. We'd love to take care of you. We'd love to talk to you," he said.
