'He loved bringing people together': Joshua Solomon annual Birthday Bash and Sneaker Ball sheds light on childhood brain cancer

In 2009, Joshua passed away from brain cancer. Now, his parents Trent and Labrina Solomon are organizing an event to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer.

MACON, Ga. — Next Saturday, Central Georgia will be celebrating Joshua Solomon.

It's the 14th Annual Joshua's Wish Birthday Bash, and this year, it's a sneaker ball.

In 2009, Joshua passed away from diffuse infuse pointine gliona, a type of brain cancer.

Joshua was four years old when doctors discovered the cancer and five years old when he passed.

15 years later, his parents Trent and Labrina Solomon are organizing this event to raise money and awareness for childhood brain cancer.

"He never met a stranger and he loved bringing people together, and it's a great cause to bring people together," Trent said.

From Thomas the Tank Engine to his favorite church tunes, Joshua was known to have a bright and energetic spirit that is said to be forever instilled in the community.

"Even though we lost our son, his legacy is that children still can thrive, move forward, and that there is going to be a cure," Trent said. "We know there's going to be a cure that's what we're striving for and the money is for research. We know that eventually, there is going to be a cure for that dreaded disease."

The event is on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Anderson Conference Center.

There will be dinner, dancing and a silent auction and it will be from 6 to 10 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the door.

And if you want to see a familiar face, our very own chief meteorologist, Ben Jones will be hosting!
