Three Bibb County schools were put on emergency lockdown Wednesday due to a reported shooting in a neighborhood nearby.
School district spokeswoman Stephanie Hartley said the shooting around around 2:10 p.m.
The Ingram-Pye Elementary, Elam Elementary and Ballard-Hudson Middle School went on lockdown soon after.
She had no further information on the shooting and referred questions to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
Lt. Sean DeFoe says the lockdowns happened after a man was shot near the corner of Anthony Road and Canton Street.
He said two men were arguing at the intersection this afternoon; when one man walked away, the other shot him in the leg.
No students were involved, he said, and the shooting happened a block away from the nearest school.
The victim was reportedly in stable condition Wednesday afternoon,
Hartley said there was a "heavy police presence" at the schools during dismissal.
