The Peach County deputy who shot Lonnie Shaw in his home in May will not be charged. Instead, Shaw is charged with pointing his gun at the officer. That's according to District Attorney David Cooke.

On Monday, Cooke said a Peach grand jury indicted Lonnie Shaw on one count of aggravated assault on a Peach County deputy.

We told you in May that officers went to Lonnie Shaw's home after his stepson Nicholas Coker was treated for a gunshot wound.

An officer knocked on Shaw's door around 3:00 a.m. and said he started to ask Shaw about Coker.

He said Shaw pointed a gun at him and the officer said he fired one shot.

Cooke says Officer Brandon Williams used reasonable force, because he believed he was in danger.

Shaw was treated at a local hospital.

His niece, Candice Shaw, says that there is a protest planned for her uncle Saturday October 1st.
