Peach Regional Medical Center is getting a new building in Byron. It will be more than four times bigger than the older facility in Fort Valley.

Construction is scheduled to end in June, but hospital administrators already know what will go inside the building. They chose pictures from local photographers throughout Central Georgia

Peach Regional Medical Center held a contest asking for local artists to submit photos to them. Ellen Terrell, the Development Director of Peach Regional Medical Center, said they received hundreds of photos.

"We wanted this new hospital to also be a part of the community and reflect the community, and we thought a photography contest was a wonderful way to do that, capture photographs of Central Georgia," said Terrell.

Terrell said they narrowed it down to 235 photos that will all be featured inside the hospital. Terrell said they have one theme in common.

"We did ask that the picture submitted do evoke a sense of calm a sense of comfort because they will be seen by patients and family members that are served there at the new hospital," said Terrell.

Rich Bennett of Byron said he was excited that a photo that he took of peach blossoms will be in the hospital.

"Peach blossoms for people in Peach County are a treat, and that's just something that I wanted to get out and to immortalize," said Bennett.

Carol Elmore of Macon was also picked and said it was an honor that a photo of one of her favorite spots was picked.

"It's a little, just place in time almost these cabins, there is no other place like them at all in the city and it's tucked backed here in just a nice quiet place," said Elmore.

Out of the 235 photos that were picked, the hospital narrowed down a top 23. From that group, there will be four winning pictures: a first place, a second place, a third place and a People's Choice Award.

You can vote for which photo you think should win the People's Choice Award. That winner will get $500.00 prize. To vote for your favorites go to: http://www.peachregional.org/photo-voting.cfm
