Second teen charged in fatal shooting of Perry 13-year-old girl

On Friday, officers found the girl shot in the neck and she died at a hospital.

PERRY, Ga. — A second Perry teenager is now charged in the accidental fatal shooting of a 13-year-old girl.

Perry Police say it happened around 10 p.m. Friday night at a home on Marcia Drive.

Officers found the girl shot in the neck and she died at a hospital.

The next day, they said they'd charge a 16-year-old boy with involuntary manslaughter.

The juvenile's name has not been released.

On Monday, 17-year-old Taylor Tharpe faces the same charge.

He's the victim's brother and is currently being held at the Houston County Detention Center.

Police Captain James Jones says they're still interviewing at least three witnesses who may have been in the room when the shooting happened.

He says they know who shot the girl but aren't ready to say who.

Jones says people were playing with the gun in a bedroom but didn't know the gun was loaded.

He says the 16-year-old is being charged with providing the gun and is being held in a Youth Detention Center.
