Two men wounded after Wilcox Co. basketball brawl

Two men were wounded and a third was arrested after a pickup basketball game in a Wilcox County park turned violent.

Two men were wounded and a third was arrested after a pickup basketball game in a Wilcox County park turned violent.

Steve Mauldin, investigator for the Wilcox County Sheriff's Office, says it happened around 6 p.m. at a park in the city of Pineview.

He said around 40 people were watching or playing in the city park.

The losing side got angry, Mauldin said, and fights broke out.

Mauldin said one man, Quinnterrious Tisdol, age 19, ran to a car, got a handgun and started firing shots.

He says Lathadius Porter, 25, was shot in the mouth, back and abdomen; Jamal Holmes, age 23, was shot once in the abdomen.

Mauldin said one of the shots apparently passed through Porter and struck Holmes.

Tisdol is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, Mauldin says.

Mauldin says he expects more people to be charged as investigators identify other people who were involved in the brawl.

He said investigators believe Porter and Holmes were wounded with a .38-caliber handgun, but so far they have not recovered the gun.

Anyone with information on the case can call the Wilcox County Sheriff's Office at (229) 467-2322.
