The two correctional officers killed in Putnam County last June were honored on Friday with their names being added to the Georgia Law Enforcement Memorial Wall.
The late Sgt. Christopher Monica and Sgt. Curtis Billue were shot to death in the line of duty when two inmates escaped from a prison bus during a routine transport.
On Friday, the officers were honored as their names have been added to the Georgia Law Enforcement Memorial Wall, which is a memorial on wheels.
"It was a very nice event," said Denis Billue, Curtis Billue's sister. "An ensemble from one of the state prisons sang a rendition of I Believe I Can Fly."
She says Concerns of Police Officers (COPS), an organization that honors fallen soldiers, gave her family the option to have the memorial wall taken wherever they saw fit.

Billue added that she and her family chose Baldwin State Prison because her brother was so dedicated to his job that it was like a second home for him.
"We are so grateful to COPS for honoring the memory of my brother and supporting our family," she said.
She says she cannot say enough great things about the organization as many of its leaders have dealt with losing a family member in the line of duty as well.
At Friday's event, guest and sheriffs from neighboring counties were there to honor the fallen officers.
This weekend, the organization in partnership with the Blue Knights is sponsoring a motorcade event named the Georgia Police Memorial Ride, to honor Sgt. Billue, Sgt. Monica and four other officers Georgia lost in the line of duty in 2017.
