MACON, Ga. — Megan Western joined the 13WMAZ news team as a Multi-Skilled Journalist in July 2022.

She was born and raised in the Buckeye state of Columbus, Ohio.

Megan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Media, Journalism, and Film with a minor in English. In college, Megan reported for Howard University’s News Service which broadcasted on WHUT, the Washington Metropolitan areas PBS affiliate.  Megan enjoyed the art of producing, writing and editing stories, and was awarded the Cathy Hughes School of Communications Broadcast Journalist award upon her graduation.

While in the nation’s capital, Megan had the opportunity to cover reactions to the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson at the United States Supreme Court, as well as, both the Vice President and the President of the United States at the White House.

She also interned with The District’s Public Access Station, DCTV, where she pitched, edited, and produced stories of the surrounding community.

When she isn’t working, Megan can be found glued to her phone scrolling though social media, binging her favorite TV series, or watching a new movie.

She is very excited to get to know the community of Central Georgia and can’t wait to get started with her first beat in Monroe County.
