Chamber of Commerce holds ribbon cutting for North Macon Plaza

The complex is expected to have a grand opening in fall 2019

MACON, Ga. — The Macon Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Monday morning to mark an unofficial countdown for the completion of a north Macon shopping plaza.

The development was announced in Sept. 2018, and construction is moving along quickly as North Macon Plaza is expected to have a grand opening this fall.

The 166,000-square-foot plaza off Bass Road will feature stores like Marshall’s/Homegoods, Michaels, Beall’s Outlet, Old Navy, Five Below, Shane’s Rib Shack, and several other businesses that have yet to be announced.

Last year’s announcement was met with some concerns by Macon shoppers who worried the retail center would cause other older stores to shut down in areas like Eisenhower Crossing.

Three of the stores named above already have locations over in the west Macon shopping complex, which used to be the home of a Target that closed in Feb. 2018.
