WALTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Walton County detention officer was arrested on sexual assault charges, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The 39-year-old man from Lithonia was arrested on Monday. GBI said it was asked by the Walton County Sheriff's Office to investigate allegations that the detention officer had sexually assaulted an inmate.
He was booked into the Barrow County Jail, and GBI said he was charged with sexual assault against a person in custody and violation of oath by a public officer.
