Georgia College and State University brings petting zoo to campus to help ease exam stress

The event was a collaboration between the Office of Student Engagement and the Campus Activities Board to help students de-stress.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Many colleges across the U.S. are just a couple of weeks away from a college graduation for students. The Georgia College and State University's Office of Student Engagement and the Campus Activities Board wanted to help students stay calm during their finals.

Wildlife Critters Circle of Life Rehabilitation Center brought about 35 animals to the middle campus for the students and professors to play with.

Students gathered at the center of campus where they were able to hold a mini alligator, pet mini goats, and a hedgehog, and hold bunnies, baby chicks, ducks, and a tortoise.

Some students on the campus came out to the event because they heard from a friend. Other students stopped by after their final to decompress and loved seeing the different animals. Elias Aufderheide says the animals made him feel calm.

"I feel very calm. I have my biology exam which I'm probably most nervous for. Along with my microeconomics one. Those are the only two exams that I have," Aufderheide said.

Aufderheide held a bunny and he says it was like holding a puppy. He said he petted a goat and hedgehog. He says the hedgehogs seemed pretty timid and it didn't people touching it too much.
