Update: Elderly woman killed in Peach County accident

Georgia State Patrol says the driver ran through a stop sign and crashed into a ditch

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — A woman is dead after a Tuesday morning accident in Fort Valley.

According to Georgia State Patrol, it was reported to them around 8:25 a.m. at the intersection of Russell Parkway and Housers Mill Road.

They say it involved one vehicle, and that the driver ran through the stop sign before crashing down into a ravine.

Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks identified the deceased as 86-year-old Sallie Brinkley.

Rooks says the accident was called in to police by nearby workers who saw her vehicle in the ravine, and that it would not have been visible from the road.

The crash is under investigation.
