MACON, Ga. — Macon-Bibb County commissioners came together Wednesday to celebrate the tearing down of four blighted homes slated for demolition.
After approving additional funding in the annual budget to demolish blighted homes, members of the Macon-Bibb County Commission were ready to get started.
“In the past several years, we’ve made huge strides in attacking blight and improving neighborhoods, but there is still a great deal more that needs to be done,” says Cass Hatcher, Chief Facilities Development Officer with RiverEdge Behavioral Health.
Out of 18 identified houses, four were demolished: 2210 Napier Avenue, 2274 Napier Avenue, 883 Maynard Street and 254 Hydrolia Street.
Ten other blighted houses are currently being prepared for demolition and, pending funding, ten more will be torn down.
