Alleged murderer one of four Bibb County missing inmates

Joey Fournier allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend Cynthia Berry in early 2022 at her home in east Macon.

MACON, Ga. — Four men escaped from the Bibb County Jail early Monday morning, and one of those inmates is an alleged murderer.

52-year-old Joey Fournier was charged with killing his ex-girlfriend Cynthia Berry.

It happened in February of 2022, in the Barrington Hall subdivision in Macon.

Neighbors of the subdivision say it was Berry's first home, and remember how excited she was to have her own place. However, they say she only lived there for a month.

At the time of the murder, her family told 13WMAZ, she moved into the place to get away from Fournier.

Berry filed a protective order against him in 2021, but in early 2022, Fournier allegedly strangled the victim to death, in her new home on Winchester Place.

On the night of the murder, the Bibb County dispatchers didn't send a deputy until 14 minutes after the 911 call was made. The Sheriff's office says it took them at least 27 minutes to respond.

Before BSO arrived at the scene, Berry's brother found her body inside the home.

Investigators say after the murder, Fournier got his brother to drive him to Rome, Georgia where he was arrested the day after Berry's death.

Along with Fournier, three other men are on the loose including 24-year-old Marc Anderson. He's been held since January 2021 and charged with three aggravated assaults.

Johnifer Barnwell was being held by the U.S. Marshal's Office.

This month, The 37-year-old was convicted by a federal jury in Macon of trafficking large amounts of fentanyl, meth, heroin, cocaine and cocaine base. He was also convicted on a gun charge. He faces a sentence of life in prison without parole.

Chavis Stokes has been held since May of 2022. The 29-year-old faces more than two dozen charges, including drug trafficking, hit and run, obstructing officers and possession of a firearm. He was arrested in May of 2022.

The FBI, United States Marshals Office and South East Regional Fugitive Task Force are all searching for these men.
