END OF WATCH: Bibb County Sheriff's Office mourns Lieutenant Willie Purcell

Lieutenant Purcell leaves behind a wife and four children and will be greatly missed.

MACON, Ga. — The Bibb County Sheriff's Office mourns the loss of Lieutenant Willie Purcell on Monday according to a Facebook post.

 They say Lt. Purcell served Macon-Bibb County for 29 years.

He served citizens through the Corrections Division, Property Investigations, Patrol Division, and Court Services. 

"Please keep Lieutenant Purcell’s family and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office in your thoughts during this difficult time. We are thankful for his long-time dedication and faithful service to this community," the post says. 

Lieutenant Purcell leaves behind a wife and four children and will be greatly missed. 

Instead of a photo, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office shared a video of Lt. Purcell singing the National Anthem during an annual Peace Officers Memorial Day Ceremony in May 2023.
