Dodge Challenger found in inmates search poses more questions, Sheriff's Office reluctant to release details

A statement from Sheriff Davis said they would not be releasing any pertinent details about the manhunt.

MACON, Ga. — For 6 days now, four inmates who escaped from the Bibb County jail are still on the loose.

A full timeline of the escape and response from law enforcement can be found here.

On Friday, 13WMAZ reported the newest update in the case, that the Blue Dodge Challenger used to help the inmates escape was found in an East Macon Kroger parking lot.

It was found in the lot of the Biomat USA on North Avenue in Macon, in between the Kroger and Subway.

We reported earlier this week the car could have been used to help smuggle tools inside the jail.

Many viewers commented on our Facebook post Friday night saying the car did not look like the car in the original jail surveillance photo.

So, we emailed the Sheriff's Office to ask additional questions about the vehicle, like how and when it was discovered, was the car stolen before the jail break, and what is the significance of finding it at that specific location, among other questions.

A statement from Sheriff Davis was issued in response to the email, saying his office didn't want to give away information that could impact the ongoing search.

This is the full statement:

”Keep in mind that this is an active investigation. All week long, we have been focusing our efforts on getting these four individuals captured. Because of the sensitivity of the Intel, that all agencies are receiving, we will not be releasing any pertinent details about the manhunt.

Please understand that, releasing such information, either delays, stops, or interferes with the investigation, and the ultimate apprehension of these four escapees."
