Troopers said the bus was stopped with red flashing lights, and its stop sign was activated at the front and rear.

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — An 8-year-old has died after being hit by a car while getting onto a school bus in Henry County on Thursday, according to troopers.

The little girl was identified by Georgia State Patrol Sunday afternoon as 8-year-old Adalynn Pierce of Henry County.

The mother's friend described her as "the most caring child who raised money for kids with cancer and left snacks on the front porch for delivery drivers." She leaves behind three other siblings, according to the family friend.

She told 11Alive that her mom and one of her siblings saw her get struck by the car while getting on the bus Thursday morning. The family friend also said she doesn't usually take the bus, but her mom's car broke down that morning.

A friend of the family sent the following picture of her to 11Alive.
