The Kolbe Center hosts a March for Life in Macon

It was a silent walk down Poplar, Cherry, and Walnut Streets downtown.

MACON, Ga. — Folks walked the streets of downtown Macon today for the March for Life.

It was a silent walk down Poplar, Cherry, and Walnut Streets to "remember the lives of the unborn."

The Kolbe Center hosted the March for Life, which is a pregnancy resource center dedicated to assisting families in need.

Ann Beall is the director of the Kolbe Center and said this is their biggest turnout.

"Every January since 1972, pro-lifers across the country have marched in commemoration of the lives that are lost and to let our communities know how important permitting children to have life is, and allowing children to be born, thrive, and grow in their communities," she said.

There was a rosary ceremony at the center, then mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a rally at Rosa Parks Square before the march.

Anti-abortion activists from across Central Georgia and the southeast joined in the annual march.

"It's just grown every year," Beall said. "It's a very ecumenical group. As I was telling someone else, there are people who don't share a faith but who share the belief that human life and dignity are important."

The Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph Catholic Church is also holding a baby item drive for the Kolbe Center.

The drive is from Jan. 20th through Jan. 28th. For more information, you can contact the Kolbe Center, which is located at 833 Walnut Street in Macon.
