UPDATE: Macon pedestrian hit, killed on Hawkinsville Road identified

51-year-old Christopher Easton was hit and killed on the 5500 block of Hawkinsville Road in Macon.

MACON, Ga. — UPDATE, 10:34 p.m.:

According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, a truck was pulling out of Macon Trailer Park, merging into traffic southbound on Hawkinsville Road. The release says when the driver moved into the turning lane, he hit 51-year-old Christopher Easton, who was walking in the center turning lane. It was reported by witnesses that after Easton was hit and  lying in the roadway, he was then hit by other vehicles. 

The accident is under investigation and no charges have been made at this time. Anyone with information can call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.

UPDATE, 8:20 p.m.:

According to Sgt. Linda Howard with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, the call came in around 6:30 p.m. about a person hit on Hawkinsville Road. Howard says a 51-year-old man was hit by a truck, and was also hit by passing cars. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

The sheriff's office is still investigating and is not releasing the victim's name until next of kin is notified.

That's according to Macon-Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones. Jones says it was a 51-year-old man.
