Bibb Sheriff's and District Attorney's Office hold car seat safety event at Macon Mall

They also replaced worn, expired, and damaged car seats while supplies lasted.

MACON, Ga. — Is your child in the safest car seat? Is your current child safety seat properly installed? Do you own a child safety seat?

To make sure the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, partnered with the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, Atlanta Fire Rescue, and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety on a Child Safety Seat inspection event.

It was held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Macon Mall.

They also replaced worn, expired, and damaged car seats while supplies lasted.

The Sheriff's Office says Child Safety Seats can greatly reduce the risk of children being injured in traffic accidents when used and installed properly in your car.

"Our partners from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, DA office, Sheriff's Office, Atlanta Fire and Macon-Bibb Fire, we've been here to make our community safer and make our most vulnerable passengers in the car safer," Sheriff David Davis said.

The money to replace car seats came from a grant. They also educated parents on what makes a car seat safe and on proper installation.

They say they often see ill-fitting or worn seats throughout the year and want to make sure kids are safe while in the car.
