Ralph Stanley Elrod has been served warrants in the shooting death of Peach County Sgt. Patrick Sondron, according to GBI Special Agent in Charge J.T. Ricketson.

Elrod is conscious after being medically sedated earlier in the day, at which point he was served with warrants in the hospital. One for murder, and four for aggravated assault.

In the last few hours, they were able to get into Elrod's home and obtain security footage that show Elrod putting on a bulletproof vest after shooting the two deputies.

Also in the footage is a brief exchange between Elrod and the deputies before Elrod began firing.

The GBI is still reviewing the footage and will release copies in the next day or two, according to Ricketson.

He also says Elrod's son is a deputy in Jones County, but will not release his name.

Deputy Daryl Smallwood remains in Medical-Center Navicent Health on life support.
