The chase began in Dodge County and ended with a fatal wreck on 441 outside of Dublin

DUBLIN, Ga. — UPDATE: Georgia State Patrol has identified the deceased as backseat passenger, 40-year-old Andrea Jones.

The driver, 29-year-old Malik Harmon was airlifted to Macon with serious injuries.

The front seat passenger, 27-year-old Deandre Munn was taken to Fairview Park Hospital.

One person died and another was airlifted to a hospital after a high-speed chase in Laurens County on Thursday afternoon.

Laurens County Sheriff Larry Dean said it happened around 5 p.m. on 441 just outside of Dublin.

He says the chase started in Dodge County and the driver crossed over into Laurens County, where his deputies deployed ‘stop sticks' two different times, but “the violator avoided them.”

The driver then approached an area of heavier traffic and almost hit other vehicles, said Dean. The deputies used a PIT maneuver to stop the car and it wrecked.

Dean says a passenger inside the car -- not the driver -- died, one was airlifted from the scene and another was taken to the hospital as a precaution and then released. No deputies were injured in the accident.
