Prepping the Polls: Peach County prepares for voters before Georgia's open primary Election Day

Voters across the Peach State are voting for a presidential candidate in Georgia's open primary race.

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — Tuesday March 12 is election day, and many voters in Georgia are heading to polls to vote.

Some of you might've early voted, but there's always a lot of preparing that goes into getting the polls ready for election day voters.

To get the Anna Lumpkin Auditorium in Fort Valley prepared for presidential primary voters, Peach County Public Works Department started preparing Monday.

Roland Meadows said, "They have all the precincts voting."

He and Joshua Pittman said they were taking multiple trips to the Board of Elections office in the Peach County Courthouse throughout the day to deliver all the necessary equipment.

The two men lugged in printers, tables, election kits, and signs.

On the stage of the auditorium, the men laid down the equipment and kits. At the stage's pit, they set up folding tables in a neat row.

It's efficient prep work because when the poll workers arrive in the morning, they can easily set the place up for voters.

On Tuesday, voters are voting for the candidate they want to see on the ballot for the presidential race in November.

Georgia is an open primary state, which means voters with a valid ID can use their one vote for whichever party they decide.

In November, voters will see the candidates for federal, state and local elections on the ballot.

For today's presidential primaries, polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m..
