The Sandersville Police are looking for the people that killed one and injured another.

"The crime rate here in Sandersville is relatively low," said Sandersville Police Chief Victor Cuyler. "We normally don't have murders, and right now, we're probably down to one homicide down a year."

Sunday at approximately 2 p.m., Quintarius Griner was shot and killed at Kaolin Park in Sandersville. His friend, Brandon Sills, was also injured, but has since been released from the hospital. Chief Cuyler says they don't have much to go on.

"We do not have a motive. No one has been arrested. So the only thing we have is one person was killed and one person was injured."

Cuyler says Griner was found dead in the middle of the soccer field after fleeing from the nearby park restrooms, after being shot, then moving over to the field area.

The chief says they currently do not have any suspects nor have they arrested anyone yet in this case, but investigators do believe the homicide could be gang-related.

"We are aware that there are some gang members in Sandersville. How organized they are, how much of a problem they are. It's still difficult for us to determine that," said Chief Cuyler.

Cuyler could not explain why he believes why gangs are involved, but he says it's vital for their department to get information from the community.

"We would encourage them to continue to call us when they feel uncomfortable about anything, call us. Give us that good information, and we'll research that information and we'll do what we can."

The G.B.I. is assisting with the investigation.

Cuyler says anyone with any information about this case can call Sandersville police at 478-552-3121.
