'I gotta step over sewage' | Sewage leak on Dublin road leaves neighbors upset

One neighbor said he's noticed it leaking for years, but it never got this bad until a couple of months ago.

DUBLIN, Ga. — On Dublin's North Church Street, there's a sewer that's spilling raw sewage onto the road.

Only a block away is where John Hall Jr. lives.

"And I looked and I thought, 'What is this? Raw sewage,'" he said.

Hall said he's noticed it happening for years.

"Maybe two, three years ago it was a little leak. Maybe, you know, lasted a day or something like that. But now it's disintegrated so much that when it rains, it's flowing day after day, after day," Hall said

Right across from where the sewage is overflowing is Stubbs Park. Stubbs Park has a creek that runs through it.

Hall said he doesn't want children to play in the creek to come in contact with the sewage.

He said the splashing from the road is also a problem.

"When the sewage is flowing up, cars are driving right past it. You're splashing through sewage," he said.

We reached out to the City of Dublin, and City Manager Josh Powell said in a statement that they are aware and monitoring the issue.

Powell said it's heavily diluted water because of the rain Dublin's had in the past few weeks.

He said they've located the problem in the sewer line and engineers are drawing plans for a contractor to make the repairs.

"The thing is, I'm walking and I gotta step over sewage. And I, was like no, no, no, no, no. I pay my taxes here. I don't like sewage two blocks from City Hall," Hall said.

Powell also said the city has notified the Georgia Environmental Protection Division about the spill.
