Tow truck fundraiser starts its engines to help community member in need

There were over 75 tow trucks and more than 100 cars for show out at Peach Park in Byron.

Jeff Underwood is a tow truck service owner who is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and now people all around Central Georgia are wanting to help uplift him when he needs it most.

According to volunteer, Dexter Lawson, one day while Underwood was towing a vehicle there was a mechanical malfunction that left him seeking medical attention.

Saturday they're hosting a car show to help him get past some of those medical expenses and back on his feet.

Lawson says they came up with the idea 30 days ago and can't believe the support the community has shown so far.

"My favorite part of it is the fact the way the community comes together in a time of need. Everybody is busy with life making things happen in their own world and when somebody's in a true time of need, people show their love and support by coming out with this kind of effort," he says.
