Ingersoll Rand says they'll merge those operations into their plant in Columbia, South Carolina. They say this will increase efficiency and improve customer service.

They company says they'll help their Macon employees with severance packages and job placement, and workers can apply for jobs at other company plants.

In Columbia, the company says they plan to hire over 750 people in jobs ranging from assembly to engineering to software support.

They plan to fill 500 additional jobs over the next year at manufacturing facilities across the country.

The company says their sales location on Macon West Drive will stay open.
