Macon's 40th homicide leaves baby motherless

Tynesha Hammonds was 20 years old and a mother to an infant son.

Christmas decorations are up, school is out and kids are everywhere on Bloomfield Way.

Tynesha Hammonds was a mom, and Sunday night she was there too.

She was sharing a Facebook live video around 8:00 p.m. when something went dangerously wrong.

Hammonds was shot in the head.

According to Macon-Bibb Coroner Lonnie Miley, she was pronounced dead soon after.

Amari Morgan, not yet even one year old, had suddenly lost his mom forever.

We spoke with Hammonds' family, who said they want her to be remembered as a loving mother who doted on Amari. She had her whole life ahead of her, they said. She was only 20 years old.

They declined to speak on camera though, saying they were worried about their own safety, since the killer could still be on the loose.

It was a feeling many parents on the street echoed. They felt by speaking out, they could put themselves or their families in danger.

Not all of them kept quiet though.

"I heard gunshots, then when I went out there, they had everything taped off," said Joey Stephens.

Stephens says he's got two kids of his own, and what happened Sunday night has him worried and making changes to the way he watches his children.

"(I) keep my kids in the house... it's sad... because they be wanting to come out and play, but it's just too dangerous these days," Stephens said. "I just don't understand it."

Neither does Hammonds' family, who are begging for anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Clay Williams with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says investigators are reviewing the Facebook live footage and treating it as evidence. So far though--at least publicly--they have not identified a suspect or motive.
