A stellar engagement: Georgia couple gets engaged during solar eclipse

Neil Armstrong's hometown turned out to be the perfect setting for an out-of-this-world engagement for Nathaniel Greve and Corinne Hill.

ATLANTA — A Georgia couple is sharing the heartwarming story of their engagement during Monday's solar eclipse  – and the proposal was stellar.

Nathaniel Greve and Corinne Hill met while playing in the marching band at Georgia Tech in 2021. The college sweethearts started dating shortly after.

"Her cheery disposition and boundless caring and kindness were how I knew she was the one," Greve recalled.

Greve knew he wanted to take his relationship and proposal to new heights.

"A little over a year ago, I thought it would be a neat opportunity to propose to Corinne, who loves astronomy," Greve said.

For Monday's celestial event, the couple decided to visit Greve's family in Wapakoneta, Ohio, the hometown of Neil Armstrong. It turned out to be the perfect setting for an out-of-this-world proposal to an astronomy aficionado.

"Even though she was suspicious that that was the underlying intent of the trip, everyone else was pleasantly surprised and a ring box from Amazon that had a small light in it made the moment and photos pretty neat," Greve recalled.

So, while Hill and their family and friends were looking at the ring in the sky around the eclipse, Greve said he knelt to the ground to present a ring of his own.

"I suppose you could say that the stars would have to align in order to ensure the timing in the relationship was just right," Greve said. "When she said yes... I was afraid that we were going to miss the rest of our four-minute eclipse because she buried her head into my shoulder for a hug!"
