Jermaine Dupri is unbothered by the social media comments about the fashion socks that took the internet by storm

The music producer laughed when the topic came up during an interview.

ATLANTA — "OMG," let's flashback to Super Bowl Sunday when R&B star Usher gave a global audience a stellar halftime performance. The entertainer "took the world to the A," bringing notable artists and stars along with him, including the well-renowned rapper and hitmaking producer Jermaine Dupri.

And while there were plenty of moments to talk about from Usher's big night, Dupri's choice of fashion socks also catapulted into the spotlight. In case you missed the moment, here's a photo from that night.

Of course, people pulled out their phones and went to social media to talk about it.

Well, the jokes and memes were hard to miss that night.

AND -- he rocked a similar look at SXSW recently, bringing the socks back into the spotlight.

11Alive's Jonathan Martin caught up with Dupri this week and asked about the trending topic. He laughed at the thought of this even coming up during the interview.

"I'm going to film you saying this," Dupri said, laughing during the conversation.

"I don't know what to tell you," he added, saying it's very interesting to him.

He said he also was reading comments right before his interview with 11Alive.

"I come from an era where I don't like to walk into a place and see nobody with what I got on, ever," he said. "I used to hate driving around Atlanta and see somebody in the same car that I was in. I would almost take it back."

He said sometimes people just don't understand that.

"That's the cloth that I'm from, I'm built from that cloth," he said. "When I first came in the game, people were saying 'oh he's got a tennis bracelet, that's feminine.' And then all of sudden every rapper that I ever seen started having a tennis bracelet."

Dupri said the comments and jokes don't bother him.

"What people also have to remember is I am the guy who told two kids from Greenbriar Mall to put their clothes on backwards, and the whole world did it," he said as he referenced the hip-hop duo Kris Kross.

During the interview, Dupri said he's an anomaly.

"People don't understand what they've never seen before," he added.
