GBI investigating after seven shot in Dublin

It happened in the 500 block of West Avenue around 2 a.m.

DUBLIN, Ga. — The GBI is investigating after two people died in a shooting in Dublin, according to a press release.

They say officers with the Dublin Police Department were called out to the 500 block of West Avenue around 2 a.m. on Easter Sunday.

A car stopped near the home and people inside the car fired multiple shots.

23-year-old Miyori Ellington and 24-year-old Sacred Brown of Dublin died at the scene.

Five other victims were shot and taken to the hospital.

Four people are still in the hospital, the release says.

Neighbor Bobby Bryant lives about a block away from where the shooting happened, and said the sound woke him up. He said it all happened very quickly. One moment he heard multiple shots ringing out at the same time.

"We were just inside and heard all this shooting, like a machine gun," he said.

Right after he heard the shots, he said it sounded like a car was booking it out of the neighborhood.

"Sounded like a car taking off fast you know, like speeding or something to get away," Bryant said.

He said he's lived in the neighborhood for about five years, and it's normally peaceful and quiet.

"Cause mostly older people here. Like I am in my 70's, and you know in that area. So it's not any kids, any young folks on this street," Bryant said.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the GBI regional investigative office in Eastman at 478-374-6988 or the Dublin Police Department at 478-275-0803. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), online at https://gbi.georgia.gov/submit-tips-online, or by downloading the See Something, Send Something mobile app.

Once complete, it will be given to the Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
