'Benefit of relaxing while art making': New space in Ingleside Village welcomes all who want to relax and create

Owner Casie Trace and her sisters wanted to have a space where people of all skill levels could come together and have fun creating in their own way.

MACON, Ga. — At Artspace Macon, whether you're a beginner or an expert, you have a space to get creative.

Casie Trace owns Artspace Macon in Ingleside Village, a gallery and do-it-yourself art studio.

She and her sisters wanted to have a space where people of all skill levels could come together and have fun creating in their own way.

ArtSpace Macon is sort of like a cafe. You come in, place your order and choose from a variety of activities on their art menu. The activities have fun names like Doodlin' Around, Watercolor Wonder, Creative Collage and more.

You can also take some activities home with you in pre-packed art kits or shop items made by local artists throughout the space.

"So, it's going to cater to the everyday person that wants to come in and make something but also a space where local artists another option for local artists to share their work," Trace said.

She says her approach to the studio is similar to the one she had in the classroom as an art teacher for many years.

"That's one thing that I got from teaching. I don't care too much about the grades and making things that are perfect but like providing an opportunity for kids to express themselves and also get that benefit of relaxing while art making," Trace said.

But the studio isn't just for kids.

Trace says it's important to her that everyone who comes into the studio feels comfortable so they can get creative in a judgment-free zone.

Art you make there also doesn't have to be perfect to be a positive force.

"I like making art to sell for myself but I like the experience of making art more so. So, that process is what I really want to share with people," Trace said.

You can come to Artspace Macon now and leave your mark!

Artspace is open this week. You can stop by on Tuesday-Saturday from noon until 6 p.m. You can find Artspace Macon on Facebook and Instagram.
