LIVE UPDATES: Central Georgia storm damage photos, power outages and road closures

MACON, Ga. — A strong line of storms moved through Central Georgia bringing strong winds and rain on Tuesday. Since then, authorities have been on the scene across the area working to restore power, remove downed trees and unblock roads.  

Here's a look at what we know now and how the storms impacted Central Georgians.

Traffic Alerts

REPORTED OR CONFIRMED ROAD CLOSURES (as of 7 p.m.):

In Macon-Bibb, several roads were closed because of the impact of Tuesday's storms. 

As of 1:45 p.m., the Macon-Bibb Emergency Management Agency reported at least eight roads were closed because of flooding, trees and downed power lines.

However, at 5:30 p.m. the agency said that essentially all roads are back open after the storms from Tuesday.

They said "most roads, if not all, are back open," but they still encourage drivers to exercise caution while traveling throughout the county.

"However, please drive with caution and make sure to report any damage, downed tree or powers," they said on Facebook. "Please report any damage, downed trees or power lines to (478) 751-7500."

Earlier in the day at around 1:45 p.m., the county reported that these roads were impassable due to the severe weather

  • Emery Road (Flooding)
  • Warpath Road (Trees Down)
  • Old Forsyth Road and Lamar Road North (Power Lines Down)
  • South Pine Knoll Dr and Glenrock Drive (Trees Down)
  • Thomas Place and Edna Place (Trees Down)
  • Liberty Church Road and Liberty Ridge Dr (Trees Down)
  • Windsor Circle and Kings Park Circle (Trees Down)
  • Patricia Drive and Feagin Road (Flooding)

INTERMITTENT LANE CLOSURES

  • Hawkinsville Road Northbound (Trees Down)
  • 7th Street (Flooding)

The Macon Transit Authority (MTA) has resumed regular service. They say please note there may be some delays on some routes.

Power Outages

Georgia Power

According to Georgia Power's website, conditions in Central Georgia have considerably improved since the storm waged on.

  • Bibb:  25
  • Monroe Co.: 17
  • Macon Co.: 23
  • Pulaski: 38
  • Hancock County: 100
  • Monroe Co.: 18
  • Johnson County: 5
  • Wilkinson County: 69

Earlier at around 5 p.m., these were the numbers the power authority reported:

  • Bibb:  283
  • Jones: 33
  • Baldwin: 269
  • Twiggs: 181
  • Wilkinson County: 70
  • Houston County: 50
  • Pulaski: 38
  • Monroe Co.: 61
  • Laurens Co. 7
  • Johnson Co.: 408
  • Macon Co. 3

Earlier, the Crisp County Power Commission reported 173 outages at around 3 p.m. but, as of 5:20 p.m, the commission's website shows that all outages have been resolved.
