Motorcyclist and driver involved in fatal crash on Highway 74 identified

Sheriff Brad Freeman of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says a motorcyclist is dead, and the driver of the car who hit him has been arrested.

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — Update, 11:32 a.m. 12/11/22

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has identified the motorcyclist who was killed in the accident on Saturday.

In a press release, they said that 58-year-old Harold Turner of Thomaston, Georgia was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Ford F-150 has also been identified as 76-year-old Terry Warren of Braselton, Georgia.

They sad that when deputies got to the scene, they found a Ford F-150 and a Harley Davidson motorcycle in the west bound median.

The Ford F-150 was traveling east and left the roadway, struck a culvert, lost control and struck the motorcycle head on in the west bound lane. 

They say that Warren was treated on the scene for minor injuries. 

He was then taken to Monroe County jail, where he is being charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving Under the Influence and Vehicular Homicide in the First Degree. 

They Sheriff's office say the crash is still under investigation.

Sheriff Brad Freeman says a Ford F150 and motorcycle collided on Highway 74 near the intersection of Oxford Road outside Culloden around 7 p.m. Saturday. 

Freeman says the motorcyclist is dead. The crash is still under investigation.
